This warm, sweet and spicy twist on a traditional bourbon old-fashioned is perfect for the Christmas season, or cozy nights by the fireplace.
The best part? It’s super easy to whip up.
INGREDIENTS
Serves 2
- 1 tablespoon chai tea (we use Chill Chai)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar (or honey)
- 120ml of your favourite bourbon
- 4 dashes of Angostura bitters
- 2 orange peels
- Cinnamon sticks and star anise
DIRECTIONS
- Add the tea into an infuser, and steep in about ⅓ cup of water that has just been boiled. Then, add the sugar and stir to dissolve.
- Add large ice cubes to a whiskey glass, and add 60ml of bourbon and two or three dashes of Angostura bitters to each
- Add the chai tea syrup according to your taste, or around 2 TBSP as a rough guide.
- Top each drink with an orange peel, cinnamon stick and star anise.
That’s it! Super easy. We used our rooibos based Chill Chai for this one because the sweet nutty flavours go so well with the smokey bourbon. You can buy yours here.
